First published in 1992 by founding editor Alyn Warren, Faultline is UC Irvine’s Pushcart Prize-winning journal. Housed in UC Irvine’s Department of English, Faultline is produced by the graduate students of the Programs in Writing, and publishes an annual issue every spring featuring works of short fiction, poetry, writer interviews, fine art, and translations.
Since its inception, Faultline has cultivated a reputation for showcasing extraordinary work from both established and emerging writers. Past issues have featured the poetry and fiction of internationally celebrated voices such as C. K. Williams, Stuart Dybek, and Lydia Davis, alongside that of notable UCI alumni such as Richard Ford, Danzy Senna, Aimee Bender, Alice Sebold, and Yusef Komunyakaa. In addition, Faultline has a rich tradition in publishing translingual and transcultural work from writers around the country and around the world in English and in translation, including the work of Lisa Alvarez, Fernando Pérez, Sameer Pandya, Kazim Ali, José Cendón, and Héctor Hernández Montecinos, amongst others.
